Grant Accounting Transition: Enhancing Support and Efficiency

August 15, 2024

Effective Fall 2024, grant accounting responsibilities will be transitioning from Sponsored Programs to the Controller’s Office. This change is driven by the increased knowledge and expertise related to grant accounting functions that is available within the Controller’s Office, coupled with the additional bandwidth to better support the complex needs of grant management.

While the behind-the-scenes support for grant management will be enhanced, there will be no changes to current positions or processes for faculty and grant recipients. The transition is expected to lead to a more efficient and streamlined approach, ensuring that grant accounting aligns with industry trends and best practices in structuring.

This move reflects a strategic decision from the Office of Research to bolster the support framework at ISU for research activities, enabling faculty and grant recipients to focus more on their research while benefiting from improved administrative processes.
