G01 Parking Lot Construction Update
July 25, 2024
Reconstruction of the G01 parking lot closest to the Pond Student Union at Idaho State University continues and the entire parking lot will remain closed through the summer. Substantial completion of the project for Area 1 and Area 2 as shown in the project map is expected by the start of the fall semester. Substantial completion of Area 3 and Area 4 in the project is expected to be completed by early September, although related landscaping and sidewalk efforts will continue through the fall semester. Updated sidewalk detour signage will be posted to reflect the latest updates from the contractor.
The total lot capacity will grow by 12 parking spaces with the redesign, offering a total of 559 spots, up from 547 previously. The new parking capacity includes a new parking area near the Fine Arts Building and spaces near the Early Learning Center that had not previously been designated for general parking.
The reconstruction also improves safety for drivers using the lot, as entering the roadway on Humbolt Street will no longer be required to access each parking row.
The project is being paid for by a mix of deferred maintenance funds from the State of Idaho, donor funding for enhanced landscaping, and grant funding for improved sidewalk and bus accessibility. No University reserves are being used on this project.
Visitor parking remains available in designated areas. Museum parking is available in C01 in front of Graveley Hall.
For those who hold a general ISU parking permit, alternative parking is available at the following lots throughout completion of the project:
- G03: on 4th Avenue and E. Terry Street
- ICCU Dome General Parking Lots (no permit required in the north corner, close to the park)
- Reed Gym General Parking Lots
Individuals may also park at the PRT bus locations within ISU’s campus, and ride for no charge to the SUB. View the campus stops map.
Pick up/drop off for the Early Learning Center will be at the ELC Circle, the small parking lot directly next to the ELC playground. This area will also be available for ADA parking and 20 minute temporary parking.
Facilities, operations and parking teams continue to evaluate the parking needs of campus and the impacts of the construction. As this is an evolving project, additional information, including closure updates will be shared as they become available at the G01 parking lot reconstruction webpage.
