Idaho State University proudly announces the appointment of Dr. Robert Rieske as the new Psychology Clinic Director, effective January 2024.

Dr. Rieske brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the role, having served as the interim director during the challenging period of the pandemic from 2020 to 2021. Rieske joined the ISU team in the Department of Psychology as an assistant professor in 2015 and has made Idaho his home with his wife and six kids.

“I am happy to step back into the role,” Dr. Rieske says. “Our clinic is a PhD training clinic that serves the community and I am excited to be part of such an amazing clinic team.”

The clinic, which provides evidence-based treatments and assessments, serves as a vital resource for the community. The clinic offers expert training to future psychologists as well as services on a sliding scale and reduced-price flat-fee basis for members of the community. Services are not restricted to the university and in fact, most clients are community members. Clients work collaboratively with psychology trainees and the supervising clinical faculty to resolve mental health difficulties and reach personal goals. The clinic ensures accessibility without compromising on quality.

"We offer some of the most comprehensive assessments and best evidence-based treatments in the state,” Dr. Riekse says, “and I am proud to lead our clinic into offering better access to services through expanding our telehealth opportunities and continuing to offer some of the best treatments supervised by world-renowned experts in their respective areas.”

Clinical services primarily reflect the specialty areas of faculty members. Currently offered are a broad range of assessment services including specialty assessment for ADHD, Specific Learning Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Intellectual Disabilities and Developmental Disabilities as well as evidence-based treatment and assessment for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families including but not limited to the following speciality services:

  • Evidence-based treatment for Depressive, Anxiety, and other DSM-5 Disorders
  • Treatment for sleep and impulse control difficulties
  • Treatment for interpersonal/relationship issues
  • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy

“We have some of the brightest and best students in clinical psychology from around the world and here locally in our program,” says Dr. Rieske, “and I feel privileged to be able to call them my colleagues."
