Doug Chambers named 64th Idaho Business Leader of the Year

February 5, 2024

Doug Chambers, CEO and President of Lookout Credit Union, is the 64th Idaho Business Leader of the Year. Alpha Kappa Psi (Delta Upsilon chapter), the professional business fraternity at Idaho State University, will recognize Chambers at their annual award dinner in Idaho State University’s Stephen Performing Arts Center on Thursday, March 7 at 6 p.m.

This award annually recognizes an Idaho business leader who has demonstrated outstanding business and professional ethics while contributing significant support to community, civic, and education activities. Awarded by Idaho State University Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Development Fraternity since 1959, previous honorees have included a congressman, former governors, entrepreneurs, and leaders of some of Idaho’s largest companies. The recognition program is the longest-standing one of its kind in Idaho.

Chambers, CEO of Lookout Credit Union, has been honored with the prestigious 64th Idaho Business Leader of the Year (IBLOY) award for his outstanding leadership and transformative impact on Lookout Credit Union and the community.

Chambers, a seasoned professional with 18 years in the industry, assumed the role of CEO in 2019, leading Lookout Credit Union to unprecedented success. Armed with an MBA from Idaho State University and National Certified Business Lender credentials, Doug has been a driving force behind Lookout's achievements.

Under his visionary leadership, Lookout Credit Union has been consistently recognized as one of the best credit unions to work for in the nation for six years. The credit union has garnered over 60 Credit Union Diamond Awards, the 2022 Pocatello/Chubbuck Chamber Member of the Year Award, and numerous local and national accolades.

Chamber's commitment to community engagement is evident through impactful projects like Lookout Point, a new park in Downtown Pocatello, and the installation of turf for Pocatello High School's historic home field.

Chamber's unconventional approach to leadership is showcased through the "30 for 40 Program," introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. This program has not only revolutionized the workplace, saving costs and improving retention but has also positively impacted employee well-being.

Beyond Lookout Credit Union, Chambers is actively involved in industry CEO groups, he previously served on the board of the Portneuf Valley Boys and Girls Club, and is a recognized speaker on culture and leadership.

Lookout Credit Union, with $340M in assets and 81 employees, is a beacon in Southeastern Idaho, recently announcing the opening of a branch in Meridian in 2024.

We are honored to present him with this award, and we would like to invite you to spend an evening with us, celebrating all of his monumental accomplishments and contributions to our community. To support Doug and Alpha Kappa Psi you can  Buy tickets here, or by visiting isu.edu/cob/ibloy.
