Call for Lactation Spaces Committee Members

July 1, 2024

The Office Equity and Inclusion is pleased to announce the formation of a new committee dedicated to evaluating and addressing the needs for additional lactation spaces across our five campuses. As part of an ongoing commitment to supporting all members of our community, this initiative will play a crucial role in enhancing campus facilities to better serve parents and caregivers.

The group seeks enthusiastic and dedicated members from our campus community to join this important committee. Your input and participation will be invaluable in helping us to:

Research and plan the implementation of additional lactation spaces.
Understand and ensure compliance with federal and state laws regarding lactation accommodations.
Create or update policies on lactation accommodations to align with legal requirements.
Research industry standards and best practices to identify and address any gaps in our current provisions.

The committee will begin meetings in July and will meet twice monthly for 1.5 hours and aims to present findings and recommendations by September 16. Participation in the committee is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact by fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment.

Participation from all sectors of campus is welcomed and encouraged. The group is particularly interested in perspectives from the Wellness Center, Human Resources, Facilities, Legal, pregnant or nursing individuals, and representatives from each of our satellite campuses.

Employees who wish to volunteer for this committee should coordinate with their supervisor prior to signing up. Classified staff will be compensated for time worked and must coordinate with their supervisors to determine whether this time will be managed as work hour adjustments, compensatory time, or paid overtime.

If you are interested in joining the Lactation Spaces Planning Committee or would like more information, please reach out to Jerrica Kenison via email at jerricakenison@isu.edu by July 12.
