The vibrant sounds of jazz will fill the air as the 36th Annual Jazz Fest takes center stage. This highly anticipated festival promises a weekend of exceptional performances and unique learning opportunities for both seasoned musicians and aspiring talents.

Presented by ISU's jazz program, and with support from generous sponsors, Galo Medina Family, Doris Brydon, and the Piano Gallery, this year's festival is set to be grander than ever before.

Kicking off the festivities on Friday, February 9th, at Station Square in Old Town Pocatello, is the immensely talented Marina Albero Trio. From 7-9 p.m., attendees will be treated to an unforgettable evening of jazz music. The best part? There is no cover charge, making it accessible to all fans of this mesmerizing genre.

The excitement builds on Saturday, February 10th, as the ISU Jazz Fest takes the stage at the prestigious Jensen Grand Concert Hall. Starting at 7:30 p.m., the audience will be captivated by the compelling performances of the ISU Big Band and the Marina Albero Trio. Tickets for this extraordinary event can be purchased at the Stephen's Performing Arts Center.

Jon Armstrong, associate professor of jazz and commercial music at ISU, expressed his enthusiasm for this year's Jazz Fest, stating, "I am thrilled to bring pianist Marina Albero and her Seattle-based trio to Pocatello for this year's jazz fest. Marina is a brilliant composer and bandleader, and everyone in her group is a powerful performer. It's going to be a great show, especially seeing ISU student musicians playing music right alongside these incredible artists."

The festival not only showcases established jazz artists but also provides a platform for aspiring talents. More than a dozen Idaho high school jazz bands will have the honor of performing onstage at the Jensen Grand Concert Hall, truly embodying the spirit of Jazz Fest. Additionally, these talented students will have the unique opportunity to attend personal workshops with the guest artists themselves. This invaluable experience is sure to leave a lasting impact on their musical journeys.
