Webinar: Research Findings Related to Automatic Textbook Charge Programs

In this webinar, Dr. Nicolas Simon will discuss his recent research on the impact on students of inclusive and equitable access programs at Eastern Connecticut State University. He will also provide recommendations on how such programs can be better structured to increase access and affordability for students while protecting student and faculty academic freedom and reducing unintended inequities across campus. The webinar will also include a question and answer session with time for discussion among participants and state academic leaders.

Dr. Nicolas P. Simon is an Associate Professor of Sociology within the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Criminology, and Social Work at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, Connecticut. His primary research interests encompass the Sociology of Higher Education, First-Generation College Students, Open Educational Resources (OER), Open Pedagogy, and Sociological Theories. Dr. Simon actively participates in the OER movement in Connecticut and is a member of the Steering Committee of the Northeast OER Summit, an annual conference dedicated to promoting OER and Open Pedagogy. It is important to note that he has a great sense of humor, but nobody knows it because it is a secret. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Connecticut and holds a master’s degree from Université de Caen in France.
