The Idaho State University Testing Center in Pocatello is an NCTA Certified Testing Center. We provide academic assessment administration for online classes as well as placement testing. We also provide professional and licensure testing services through a variety of testing vendors including Pearson Vue, Prometric, and PSI.
For test center certification, testing centers must follow the eleven standards that are drawn from the list of NCTA Professional Standards and Guidelines.

These standards include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and implement a mission statement consistent with the policies and standards set forth in their standards and guidelines document
  • Maintain adequate physical facilities and location suitable to the requirements of the testing program
  • Protect the integrity of the test
  • Protect the confidentiality and rights of privacy of examinees and staff
  • Develop and implement appropriate guidelines for test center operations and staff training
  • Evaluate the testing program in an on-going, systematic, and comprehensive manner

Proctors and support staff working on behalf of the testing program have defined roles and receive instruction related to their responsibilities. Their work is monitored and evaluated.
