Participate in Public Study about Critical Infrastructure

August 29, 2024

Would you like to weigh in on what a process should look like for consent-based siting of critical infrastructure? The Common Ground Consortium, led by Boise State University, is hosting a series of public discussions in Idaho communities to improve broad understanding of people's priorities for consent-based siting processes.

The aim is to inform process improvements that can be used for temporary storage of nuclear waste (used nuclear fuel), the power grid, and other infrastructure.

The Pocatello public discussion will be on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 5:30 - 7:30pm at the Purpose Center (224 N. Union Pacific Avenue in Old Town Pocatello). Dinner and a small participation stipend will be provided.

Pre-registration (required) and more information is available at the discussion event website.

This work is being funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and is done to provide recommendations to the U.S. Department of Energy on better practices in consent-based siting processes. Data/information that is collected may be used for this research.

If you have any general questions, please contact ISU's Common Ground Consortium member, Sarah Robey, at sarahrobey@isu.edu. Questions about IRB documentation can be directed to Kathy Araujo, Common Ground Lead Primary Investigator, at kathleenaraujo@boisestate.edu or (208) 426-4845.
