On the TRAIL: Students and Faculty Present on Rural Immersion
October 31, 2024
Two College of Education students who participated in the Teaching in Rural Areas Immersion Learning (TRAIL) Experience last May attended and co-presented about their experiences at the Northern Rocky Mountain Educational Research Association (NRMERA) conference in Lake Tahoe, NV, in early October. Students Kailey Marler and Kristi Steidley presented with TRAIL faculty advisers Suzanne Beasterfield and Amanda Eller. The purpose of the TRAIL Experience is to provide teacher candidates an opportunity to learn what it is like to teach and live in a rural remote community, in an effort to increase the number of teachers in those rural remote areas. TRAIL is funded by the COE Dean's Excellence program, which also provided Kailey and Kristi the opportunity to attend NRMERA.
