Notice of Fall Fire Evacuation Drills

August 21, 2024

Welcome Bengals!

Public Safety conducts training and exercises throughout the year to ensure we are ready for emergency situations. In the next few weeks, we'll be running evacuation drills to prepare for emergencies. From August 26th to September 6th, we'll practice fire evacuations in most buildings on the Pocatello and Idaho Falls campuses. For students who have special needs or concerns or may require assistance during the evacuation, please call Disability Services at 208-282-3599.

Here are some helpful tips if you are attending a class or an activity and hear the fire alarm sound.

  1. Remain calm and go to the nearest exit.
  2. Avoid using elevators, even during fire drills. If you require assistance during the evacuation, wait at the nearest Area of Rescue or near a stairway for assistance from a public safety official.
  3. Follow all instructions provided by the staff, faculty, and first responders who are trained to assist you.
  4. You can use the Area of Assembly Map to find the closest assembly point. It's also available on our free Rave Guardian Safety App.
  5. Wait at the assembly area for instructions, and do not re-enter the building until you are told to.
