New Methylene Chloride Regulations

November 14, 2024

Earlier this year, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized a ban on most uses of methylene chloride (dichloromethane or DCM), a common chemical used in laboratories and found in a variety of consumer and commercial products. As a result, ISU will be phasing out the use of methylene chloride and disposing of products that contain it. Disposal of methylene chloride or products that contain it must be handled through the Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) Department. For questions on how this may affect you, please reach out to EHSS at (208) 282-2310 or read more about the Methylene Chloride regulation and how it affects ISU on our webpage.
