The L.S. Skaggs College of Pharmacy is thrilled to announce a $1.5 million gift from The ALSAM Foundation to expand its Skaggs Scholarship Program.
This donation increases The ALSAM Foundation’s total support for ISU pharmacy scholarships to over $3 million and reinforces its status as the university’s largest donor.
Founded by the late L.S. and Aline W. Skaggs, The ALSAM Foundation has been a key partner in the college’s growth since 2007. The new funding will provide additional scholarships to PharmD students, alleviating financial barriers and enabling talented individuals to pursue pharmacy careers without the burden of excessive debt.
“The ALSAM Foundation’s ongoing support has had a transformative impact on our students and our university as a whole,” said Robert W. Wagner, Idaho State University president. “This new gift will help us to continue offering a world-class education to our PharmD students while reducing financial stress. We are deeply grateful to The ALSAM Foundation for its unwavering dedication to advancing healthcare education and empowering the next generation of pharmacists.”
Since the Skaggs Scholarship Program’s inception, 85 PharmD students have received scholarships, allowing them to focus on their education and professional growth. In addition to scholarships, The ALSAM Foundation’s support has funded state-of-the-art renovations of the college’s Leonard Hall building, enhancing the learning experience for all students.
“The enduring generosity of The ALSAM Foundation is truly inspiring and has elevated not only our college but also the entire ISU and healthcare community,” said Tom Wadsworth, dean of the college. Our college proudly bears their name, and it is an honor and privilege to be part of the L.S. Skaggs College of Pharmacy family.”
The ALSAM Foundation’s mission to improve access to higher education reflects the philanthropic spirit of L.S. and Aline W. Skaggs, whose impact reaches far beyond Idaho State University, benefiting students and institutions throughout the West.
