Disability Services is offering free online access to 2024 Accessing Higher Ground
Idaho State University Disability Services will provide free online access to the Accessing Higher Ground Conference November 11-15, which focuses on accessible media, universal design and assistive technology.
More than 40 hour-long sessions, ranging from writing alternative text for images to accessible procurement and creating accessible forms, will be offered.
Please use this AHEAD 2024 Virtual Conference Registration Form if you are interested in attending sessions at ISU. This form provides list of all sessions offered and a link to full descriptions of each session.
Accessing Higher Ground is the annual conference of ATHEN, Access Technology Higher Education Network, one of the Association on Higher Education and Disability's (AHEAD) associated partners.
Numerous sessions are offered on legal and policy issues, including compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. There will also be sessions on accessible media and information resources, which include Web pages and library resources.
Digital and document accessibility is U.S. law, Idaho State University policy, and the right thing to do, but ISU is way behind in these endeavors.
These sessions offer an excellent learning opportunity for anyone at ISU working with the web, creating documents, posting teaching content online, or posting to social media.
The conference brings together web designers, assistive technologists, ADA coordinators, disability resource staff, faculty members, course designers, media specialists and programmers, and IT and communication managers. Anyone working in those capacities at ISU can benefit byattending conference sessions.
For additional info, contact Eric Hall (erichall@isu.edu), Andy Taylor (tayland@isu.edu), or Ean Harker (eanharker@isu.edu) or call (208) 282-3599.
More complete session login information will be available by Nov. 4 and Disability Services will communicate that information at that time.
