Cybersecurity Instructor Receives Award for Best Paper from the Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education
December 19, 2024
The Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education (CISSE) recognized Dr. Sean McBride's work "What does an OT [operational technology] security professional need to know?" as the 28th Colloquium's best paper.
During the past seven years, McBride has developed ISU's Industrial Cybersecurity Engineering Technology program - the country's first hands-on degree to prepare cybersecurity professionals to defend the electric grid, gas pipelines, and water systems from cybersecurity incidents.
The research paper described a years-long collaboration between industry, academia, and government that used a series of qualitative and quantitative techniques to develop a consensus-based standard for what a professional in these fields needs to know. The paper will be published in the Colloquium's Journal.
"Congratulations to my friend and colleague Dr. Sean McBride on this outstanding recognition,” said College of Business Dean and Michael C. Ruettgers Professor of Marketing Dr. Shane Hunt. “Sean's leadership in the area of cybersecurity is positively benefiting students across our entire campus, and his research is helping to provide a brighter, safer future for our country."
