A Culinary Showdown Between Idaho’s Top University Chefs to be Hosted by Food Network’s Chef Justin Warner

October 28, 2024

Chartwells Higher Education is excited to announce the second annual “Idaho Battle of the Chefs” cooking competition featuring top culinary talents from the University of Idaho, Boise State University, and Idaho State University. This exciting event will be hosted at the University of Idaho in Moscow on Wednesday, November 6.

The competition will bring together executive chefs from each university, showcasing their culinary skills and creativity in a thrilling head-to-head showdown. The chefs will be provided with top-quality ingredients, thanks to generous food donations from local suppliers: ingredients from the Palouse from Simplot, 300 lbs. of quality beef from Double R Ranch, and a variety of delicious spices from Spiceology.

Adding to the excitement, Food Network celebrity chef Justin Warner will be present to host the event and sit on the judge’s panel. Chef Warner, known for his innovative cooking style and engaging personality, will bring a unique flair to the competition, offering insights and critiques as the chefs compete for culinary supremacy.

“We are so excited for this event because it gives us a chance to showcase local Idaho products and ingredients from the Palouse. Not only do the winners get bragging rights, but the campuses are all gunning to get an awesome trophy to show off,” said Kylene Ott, Chartwells Regional Vice President.

The event will culminate in a live judge’s panel, where the chefs’ creations will be evaluated, and the winner will be crowned. The live panel will be streamed starting at 4:30 PM PST at uidaho.edu/live, allowing viewers from each university and around the region to tune in and take part in the event.

“This event is a fantastic opportunity for our chefs to showcase their talents and for the Idaho community to come together in celebration of culinary excellence,” said Nathan Underwood, University of Idaho Associate Auxiliary Director. “We are grateful to our sponsors and partners for their support in making this event possible.”
