2024 United Way and Idaho State University Workplace Giving Campaign

November 25, 2024

ISU employees raised nearly $10,000 in this year’s Workplace Giving Campaign, benefitting the United Way locations serving Pocatello, Idaho Falls and Meridian. The funds were raised at a number of fun events, from individual donations and through payroll deduction pledges.

While the giving campaign runs through the month of October each year, there is still time to sign up for payroll deduction. Payroll deductions will begin in January 2025, and they do not rollover year to year. If you wish to continue making a difference in this way please complete a deduction form each year.

Some striking fundraising took place at the Annual United Way Bowling Tournament on Halloween in Pocatello. There were 19 teams competing this year, all with great team names and even more impressive costumes. The event was a lot of fun and there was tough competition with the defending champions, Competition Masters from ITS maintaining their top spot with a score of 486. The Graduate School took home the Golf Award, which goes to the team with the lowest score.

The bowling tournament raised nearly $1,300 for the United Way, and 100% goes to support their programs in our community, thanks to a generous donor who covered the costs of lane and shoe rentals.

Employees at ISU Meridian also raised money and awareness with their Soup Lunch and Bucks for Brewed Coffee events, while employees in Idaho Falls participated in a chili cookoff.

Since 1999, ISU employees have contributed close to $1 million to the United Way through one-time contributions or payroll deduction. Across the nation, United Way is dedicated to building powerful partnerships that improve outcomes for children, families, and individuals in need. The United Way works with strongly aligned community organizations, such as ISU, to provide support in these three pillars for success: health, education and financial stability. The focus for United Way of Southeastern Idaho is in serving members of the ALICE population, who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, some of whom are our fellow ISU employees and students.
