Idaho State University Announces 2023-24 Theatre Season Lineup

Idaho State University is excited to announce its 2023-24 Theatre Season lineup, which features four highly anticipated productions, including "Life x Three," "The Three Musketeers," "The Twits," and "Sunday in the Park with George.”

"Life x Three" brings audiences on a comedic journey through three different versions of the same evening. Written by Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton, this witty and thought-provoking play explores how slight changes in circumstances can drastically alter the outcome of our lives. Directed by ISU Professor of Theatre, Vanessa Ballam. Sept. 29, 30, Oct. 5-7., 7:30 p.m. in the Black Box.

"The Three Musketeers" is a thrilling and action-packed classic tale of adventure, romance, and swashbuckling sword fights. Written by Alexandre Dumas and adapted by Ken Ludwig, this beloved story follows the adventures of young D'Artagnan as he fights alongside the legendary Musketeers to protect their king and country. Directed by new ISU Assistant Professor of Theatre, Jef Petersen. Dec. 1, 2, 7-9, 7:30 p.m. in the Bistline Theatre.

Roald Dahl's beloved "The Twits" comes to life on stage in a hilarious and heartwarming adaptation by Enda Walsh. This family-friendly production follows the disgusting and devious Twits as they plot their next cruel prank, only to be foiled by a group of brave monkeys. The Twits will be directed by guest artist, Octavia Biggs, through a generous grant from the F.M., Anne G., and Beverly B. Bistline Foundation.  Feb. 9, 15, 16 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb 10, 17 at 2 p.m. in the Bistline Theatre.

Finally, "Sunday in the Park with George" provides a stunning look at art, love, and the creative process. Written by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, this award-winning musical explores the life and work of Georges Seurat as he creates his masterpiece, "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.” Directed by ISU Professor of Theatre, Vanessa Ballam. April 12, 13, 18-20 at 7:30 p.m. in Frazier Hall.

"We are thrilled to present such a diverse and exciting lineup for our 2022-23 Theatre Season," says Tara Young, Chair of the Theatre Department at Idaho State. "Each production offers something unique and special, and we can't wait to share them with our audiences."

ISU Theatre FLEX passes, punch cards with 4 tickets per card, and regular show tickets will go on sale on August 1. FLEX passes are $65 for adult tickets and $60 for faculty and staff. First-time buyers can buy one FLEX pass ticket and get another half-off. Single-show tickets range from $7-$18.
