New Academic Integrity Council

August 24, 2023

ISU faculty have heard a lot about chatbots in the last year. Should you allow your students to use them to complete their course assignments? How would you even know if students are drawing upon generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Bard, and Bing?

One of the most important predictors for ensuring student integrity is for faculty to have clear academic standards and policies for a course, and the newly formed Academic Integrity Council (AIC) may be able to assist you.

The AIC website contains a variety of resources to help faculty promote integrity among students who are increasingly using chatbot platforms. Resources include best practices, sample syllabus statements, tools for identifying academic dishonesty, recent articles, and helpful websites.

For questions or additional information, please contact members of the Academic Integrity Council: Dr. Nancy Legge, professor of communication, or Dr. Curtis Whitaker, professor of English and philosophy.
