ISU Nursing Alumna Receives Excellence in Advancing Nursing Science Award

Dr. Ruth Tretter was recently announced as the 2023 Excellence in Advancing Nursing Science Award recipient from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN).    

A Class of 2023 graduate, Tretter wrote a uniquely personal
dissertation on the nomad lifestyle and how it can affect access to health care. Tretter’s research on the subject came from living in an RV herself and recording the experiences of other nomads from Oregon to Oklahoma to Texas to Arizona, learning about and documenting their experiences in accessing health care. The study described the experiences of RV-dwelling nomads and identified barriers as well as facilitators to health care access. As the recipient of this award, Tretter has been invited to AACN’s 2024 Doctoral Education Conference January 18-20, 2024 to present her abstract and receive the award. The project will also be spotlighted on AACN’s website and in the association’s electronic publications.
