CPI Intern of the Month: Kate Selvage
September 21, 2023
Kate Selvage, graduate student in the Masters of Public Administration program at Idaho State University, is September’s CPI of the month.
Selvage currently holds a Career Path Internship (CPI) with Southeast Idaho Council of Governments (SICOG) where they have been able to gain skills in grant writing, environmental assessments, and event management.
“Kate Selvage is so much fun to have in our office and Kate’s passion for natural resources paired with their magnetic personality makes it a joy to work beside them every day,” said Krystal Denney, SICOG’s Community and Economic Development Director and Selvage’s supervisor. “In big news, during Kate’s first week here, they wrote a grant for the first time and it was AWARDED!!! They are insanely brilliant.”
Selvage’s experience gained during the CPI internship has helped confirm their plans for after graduation.
“I have learned many things during my internship, but the most important thing was that it has solidified that I want to do environmental work and that the non-profit sector is the career direction that I want to pursue once I have graduated,” Selvage said. “Once I have graduated I am looking to move somewhere in the Pacific North-West area and focus on Environmental non-profit work for local communities, similar to what I am doing at my internship.”
Originally from Boise, Selvage enjoys painting, reading with their book club and going on hikes with friends and family. Selvage plans to graduate in May 2025.
