Counseling and Testing Services to Offer RESPOND Training

August 28, 2023

All of us experience emotional pain or distress at times in our lives, and about one in five of us will even experience a diagnosable mental illness this year.

Most of us want to help when we encounter someone who is struggling in this way, yet we often feel uncertain about what to do or say.  RESPOND was designed to provide those tools.  Join the ISU counseling staff on Friday, Sept.22, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Pond Student Union Little Wood River Room, for RESPOND training.

Highlights of the training include an overview of symptoms often associated with mental health problems, campus policies such as FERPA, mental health resources, and an action plan that will empower you to offer effective support and useful referrals to a student or colleague.

RSVP and full-day attendance is required for completion of the training.

Who should attend RESPOND training? Any Idaho State University faculty, staff, or administrator who wishes to learn more about how to RESPOND to students or colleagues who are in distress. Graduate and undergraduate students who work in student-assistance roles are also welcome to attend this training. For more information or questions, please contact the counseling office at (208)-282-2130 or visit our Trainings and Workshops web page.
