Bengals and Vandals Unite to Tackle Hunger During Rivalry Week
November 13, 2023
The ISU Alumni Association and University of Idaho Alumni are teaming up to tackle hunger in Idaho by launching a week-long food drive in support of the Idaho Food Bank.
From Monday, November 13, to Saturday, November 18, Bengal and Vandal alumni, supporters and fans are encouraged to join forces in the fight against hunger. The initiative, aptly named "Vandals and Bengals: Tackling Hunger Together," aims to make a significant impact on the lives of Idahoans facing food insecurity.
The Idaho Food Bank plays a crucial role in alleviating hunger across the state by distributing food to local partner agencies, schools and individuals in need. Idaho Foodbank tireless efforts have made a significant difference in the lives of countless Idaho residents, particularly during these challenging times.
"While we may be rivals on the field, we are united by our shared commitment to the well-being of our fellow Idahoans. Together, we can make a tremendous difference in the fight against hunger," said Ryan Sargent, Executive Director of the ISU Alumni Association.
Amy Lientz, Executive Director of the UI Alumni Association, echoed Sargent's sentiments, adding, "Our rivalry is a source of pride, but so is our ability to come together as Idahoans for a great cause. Let's prove that Vandals and Bengals can unite to make a positive impact."
Randy Ford, President and CEO of the Idaho Food Bank, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for this collaborative effort.
"The Idaho Food Bank is incredibly grateful to see the Bengals and Vandals teaming up to tackle hunger. Together, we can make sure that no one in Idaho goes to bed hungry," he said.
To support this initiative, individuals are encouraged to make donations at idahofoodbank.org/tacklinghunger/ or drop off non-perishable food items at any food bank location. Additionally, designated drop-off sites will be available outside the Kibbie Dome before the rivalry football game on Saturday, November 18. Supporters are encouraged to share their involvement on social media using the hashtag #TacklingHungerTogether.
