Admissions and Recruitment October Update

November 16, 2023

October continues to be a lively month for Recruitment and Admissions. With National College Application Month in October, our team traveled to nine states to attend various events. It cultivated new relationships with prospective students at numerous college fairs, including the SE Idaho College Fair, where we had 568 students. That is 87 more students that scanned in with us than last year. We also attended 57 high schools, 40 additional college fairs, and hosted 105 individual tours and 12 campus group tours. We have had over 289,000 contacts with students in the past month through our various forms of email, text, and print communications.

In addition to a busy month of traveling, we hosted the Eastern Idaho Hispanic Youth Leadership Summit (HYLS) and attended the Treasure Valley HYLS. At the Eastern Idaho HYLS, we had 312 7th - 12th graders engage in STEM activities, learn leadership skills, and participate in a college fair with the opportunity to apply for scholarships.

Our fall preview day, Experience ISU, was on October 27th, with almost 100 more attendees than last year. Event follow-up survey results show that 90% of students' interest increased in ISU after attending Experience ISU. With nearly 800 students and guests in attendance, it created a lot of excitement on campus. Lastly, we hosted Health Experience Night (HSEN) in Meridian, with Pocatello’s occurring at the end of September. With 310 people in attendance, we exceeded last year's attendance. This event continues to be an excellent way to showcase all our health sciences programs offer.

These events would not have been possible without the help of the fantastic staff, faculty, and students on campus. Thank you!
