Sustainable Idaho Wins Two Idaho Press Club Awards

KISU is proud to announce that Sustainable Idaho radio show hosts Scott Greeves and Rachel McGovern won two first place awards at the Idaho Press Club Best of 2021 Awards banquet in Boise on Saturday, April 30. Sustainable Idaho (SI), co-sponsored by The Portneuf Resource Council (PRC) and the ISU Sustainability Club, explores locally important sustainability topics.
Greeves and McGovern were nominated for the awards by Jamon Anderson, General Manager of KISU. They were awarded first place in the category of TV or Audio – General News Report – Student for their interview with Congressman Mike Simpson (Episode 6, of the “Damning Salmon? And Ecological and Native American Perspective” series).
Additionally, Greeves and McGovern were also awarded first place in the student category TV or Radio – Public Affairs Program for their series entitled “FMC Corp's Hazardous Waste Storage: A Human, Environmental, and Legal Story”.
Greeves and McGovern hosted Sustainable Idaho from November 2020 through May 2021. They are currently pursuing graduate studies at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Sustainable Idaho is a collaboration between the ISU Sustainability Club and the Portneuf Resource Council. Funded by PRC, Sustainable Idaho launched in June 2020. Since then, it has received numerous grants from ISU’s Center for Ecological Research and Education as well as Career Path Internship funding through ISU’s Office of Research. As of April 2022, Sustainable Idaho hosts have produced over 100 weekly episodes on KISU. Student hosts collaborate with an advisory committee to plan topics, share resources, and provide editing advice. Hosts research topics, conduct interviews, and produce each weekly show with help from the KISU staff.
