ISU Research Office awards more than $78,000 through Small Grant Program

Idaho State University’s Office for Research recently awarded more than $78,000 to researchers across campus through the University’s Internal Small Grant (ISG) program.  Thirteen proposals were selected to receive an award of up to $5,000 for proposed research and creative activity projects.

This year’s awardees come from 13 departments and five colleges, and represent the diversity of quality research and creative activity happening at ISU. The awardees include:

Raphael Njoku (History / Global Studies and Languages), Eddie Ludema (Music), James Stoutenborough (Political Science), Joel Shura and Tara Young (Theatre and Dance), JongHun Sung (Human Performance and Sport Studies) and Cho Hyun Park (Organizational Learning and Performance), Cho Hyun Park (Organizational Learning and Performance), Kristin Van De Griend (Community and Behavioral Health), Cindy Seiger (Physical and Occupational Therapy) and Janette Olsen (Community & Public Health), Ali Habashi (Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences) and Mary Nies (Graduate Nursing Program), Mostafa Fouda (Electrical and Computer Engineering), Taher Deemyad (Mechanical Engineering), Paul Bodily (Computer Science) Heather Ray and Devaleena Pradhan (Biological Sciences).

Each submission was carefully reviewed by ISU’s Research Council who makes recommendations to the Vice President for Research.  During the submission review process, the Research Council places a great emphasis on projects that lead to external funding, have significant benefits to the researcher, artist or university, or help the applicant progress to the next stage in their research or creative activity.

The ISG program is administered by Sponsored Programs and Support, refined by Office for Research leadership. This program is a competition for internal funding designed to expand the capacity for research and creative activity at ISU. Funding for the ISG program comes from Facilities and Administrative Costs resulting from external grant funding.
