Idaho State Mourns the Loss of Marjorie Montanus

July 5, 2022

Marjorie Montanus

Marjorie Montanus, clinical assistant professor in Medical Laboratory Science, passed away June 27. She will be dearly missed by not just the faculty, staff and students in the Medical Laboratory  program, but by the entire Idaho State community.

Marj joined the ISU MLS program in January 2016 as an adjunct faculty and taught from the Twin Falls CSI campus. In August 2017, she left the clinical lab and began working as an assistant professor at the Meridian campus. In Fall 2020, she added the duties of clinical coordinator where she worked with the clinical affiliates and coordinated the MLS student internships. In 2021, she was named Idaho State University’s Distinguished Teacher.

Marj's husband and family share their gratitude for the kindness, generosity, faithfulness, and encouragement shown throughout Marj's journey with cancer over the past 18 months. Her husband Jim writes, "Marj is done with her struggles and is now free of pain and suffering. She passed June 27, at 6:40 p.m., and we were blessed to have the entire family be with her and hold her hand as she passed from this life to the next. The ordeal is over, and we are now able to start healing and rebuilding our lives."
