Disability Services to Offer Accommodation Trainings for Faculty via Zoom and In-Person in Pocatello, Meridian and Idaho Falls
August 15, 2022
To enhance partnerships and communications with faculty, Idaho State University Disability Services will offer training regarding the student accommodations process during the latter half of August and on Sept. 1. The training schedule is listed below.
To meet the needs of faculty, a combination of Zoom and in-person trainings will be offered. In-person training will be held in Pocatello, Meridian and Idaho Falls. The trainings will provide a brief overview of disability law, its relationship to higher education and the roles of the ISU Disability Services office, students and Faculty. Presenters will define the term “reasonable accommodations” and review the ISU accommodation process, which includes the instructor’s role regarding referrals to Disability Services and the implementation of approved accommodations. In addition, presenters will address common questions about high-frequency accommodations and review procedures for addressing and reporting concerns.
“I highly recommend all faculty who are not familiar with the accommodations process to attend one of these trainings,” said Karina Mason Rorris, director of Disability Services. “These trainings will benefit faculty and students alike.”
