Change to Closed Week Policy
April 21, 2022
Dear Faculty Colleagues,
As we move closer and closer to the end of another school year, the Academic Affairs Team would like to take a moment, once again, to thank you for all you have done over the past year to support our students and one another. We are extremely fortunate to work alongside such compassionate and dedicated educational professionals and we appreciate your commitment to academic excellence and student achievement.
Please be aware that April’s Notes from Academic Affairs focused on the policies and procedures you may want to reference for our upcoming finals week and final submission of grades. Also, we would like to remind you that, after significant discussion throughout 2019, the institution changed our official closed-week policy. The specifics of this change may be found in the Final Exam Week Policy in the catalog and is further described below.
Faculty are welcome to introduce new material and give assignments, quizzes, or tests (except for final exams) during the seven days prior to the start of final exam week. Take-home final exams may be provided to students prior to final exam week as long as they are not due before the end of the scheduled final exam period for the course. As a reminder, there are several exceptions to this policy, such as laboratory and performance courses, as well as graduate courses.
Please, feel free to contact Academic Affairs if you have any questions regarding this or any other questions you may have.
––Academic Affairs Team
