November 17, 2022
Idaho State University student, Aileen Pannecoucke, is set to participate in the USA Cycling Race, El Tour De Tucson on November 19.
Pannecoucke first joined the ISU Cycling Club in 2019 as she was working towards a Master’s of Physical Education in Athletic Administration Degree through the College of Education. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the collegiate season was canceled in 2020. After graduation, Aileen discovered she had a passion for teaching. She enrolled in the College of Education’s Master of Arts in Teaching program in the Fall 2021 semester and returned to the ISU Cycling Club.
Pannecoucke has since gone on to compete in the 2022 USAC Collegiate Road Crit where she was named American Collegiate Crit Champion and awarded fifth in the time trial. She then received 2nd place in the 2022 USA Cycling Collegiate Track Nationals- Omnium. This summer, she continued racing domestically and won the Idaho State Crit Championship, Utah State Crit Championship and LoToJa (Logan, Utah to Jackson Hole, Wyoming 203 mile race). Pannecoucke was selected to be sponsored by USA Cycling and invited to attend a talent development training camp in Tucson, Arizona later this month before her Nov. 19 race.
Pannecoucke is currently a student teacher at Century High School in Pocatello and is expected to graduate from the Master of Arts in Teaching program in May 2023. She plans to become a high school teacher and make a difference in students’ lives.
