Career Closet Donation Challenge

Enrollment Management’s Giving Back Initiative this year is to support the ISU career closet housed in the Veteran Student Services Center. 

The career closet is open to any student who needs appropriate clothing for an interview or other significant life event. 

Please take a few minutes to go through your closet for any gently used items you are no longer wearing or to donate some new items if you are so inclined. New or gently used business/professional wear items can be donated. More contemporary styles would be appreciated, and a range of sizes is needed (see list of suggested donations below).  Donations will be collected in the New Student Orientation Office Suite until noon on September 9.  

Donations for Women (smaller and larger sizes are most in demand):  

• Suits, dresses 
• Professional separates: slacks, shirts, sweaters, blazers, skirts, layering dress shirts 
• Accessories: scarves, belts 
• New only please: camisoles, undershirts 
• Cash donations to assist with covering the costs of dry cleaning or alterations. Please make donations through the foundation dedicated to the Career Closet. 
• Please do not donate underwear, bras, outdated clothing, clothing in poor shape, shoes, jewelry. 

Donations for Men 

•  Suits 
• Professional separates: slacks, dress shirts, polo shirts, sweaters, vests, blazers, sports coats • Accessories: nice belts, ties 
• New only please: undershirts, socks 
• Cash donations to assist with covering the costs of dry cleaning or alterations. Please make donations through the foundation dedicated to the Career Closet.
• Please do not donate underwear, outdated clothing, clothing in poor shape, shoes. 

If you are looking for other ways to help, consider joining us for an hour or two at the Career Closet at 1 p.m. on September 9 to help us sort the donations, organizing outfits by size, lending your skills with alterations, or steaming and ironing clothing.
