RESPOND: Partnering for Campus Mental Health

July 20, 2020

Due to an overwhelmingly positive response for our online offering of RESPOND earlier in July, ISU Counseling and Testing is offering an additional online opportunity of RESPOND training this summer for staff and faculty.

The full impact of the COVID pandemic remains unknown, but one thing we know for sure is that there is an effect on everyone’s mental health, and most certainly our students. Now more than ever, RESPOND training can help us support our students through this difficult and challenging time.

About 1 in 5 of us will experience a diagnosable mental illness this year. All of us experience emotional pain or distress at times in our lives. Most of us want to help yet often feel uncertain about what to do or say. RESPOND is an in-depth training designed to help faculty and staff feel more comfortable and better prepared to respond to students who are experiencing emotional distress by offering support but also knowing when to refer to a professional counselor. Simply being present can change a life.

We welcome and encourage all faculty and staff to take part in this workshop. While it is a significant commitment of your time, the workshop is interactive and allows ample time for questions and discussion.

Aug 5 and 6
