ISU Financial Aid and Scholarships Announce Revised Scholarship Grid

July 23, 2020

ISU’s Financial Aid and Scholarships teams have been engaged for several months in an intensive review of our scholarship program. The objective was to create more opportunities for scholarship distribution and to ensure access to these funds to a broader portion of our student population.

At the same time, students have been sharing with our financial aid counselors their doubts about the affordability of college because of the economic hardship Covid-19 has imposed on so many. We are extremely pleased, therefore, to share with you our Revised Scholarship Grid for Fall 2021. This grid is for incoming first-time, first-year students who are Idaho Residents and graduates of an Idaho high school (or equivalent).

The new distribution plan will make scholarship funds available to a larger percentage of students. Almost 60% of ISU students will have more funding available to them. Students grandfathered in under the old system will maintain their existing scholarship as long as they continue to meet the requirements. The new grid will affect incoming students in Fall 2021.
One of the things we’re excited about is that we will be able to make more scholarship funds available to students who fall in the “middle”--those who tend to have fewer options for paying for college because neither their financial need nor their financial resources are great.

Covid-19 has forced all of us to adapt, postpone, and sometimes cancel plans that mean a great deal to us. At this critical time, we want to do everything we can to make sure our students do not have to postpone their education. It is our belief that this new scholarship distribution plan will help more Bengals find their Roar! The new grid may be viewed on the Scholarship website.
