Important Changes to Title IX Coming August 2020 for staff and faculty
August 3, 2020
Title IX is an important civil rights law that protects our campus community from discrimination and harassment based on sex. Title IX covers sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. You may have heard in the news that the federal government has made changes to Title IX. We have assembled a cross-functional implementation team to ensure these changes are implemented, and Idaho State is working diligently to comply with the updated regulations by Aug. 14. There will be significant changes to policy and process in handling Title IX complaints. You will receive additional communications about these changes in the coming weeks.
The Office of Equity and Inclusion will be sending out information about these changes in the next several weeks. In the meantime, please consult the Sexual and Gender Based Discrimination, Harassment, and other Sexual Misconduct webpage or contact Melissa Millican, Interim Title IX Coordinator. She is available to answer any of your questions, take complaints, or provide resources to all students, faculty or staff. She can be reached at (208) 282-1439 or millmeli@isu.edu.
