Veteran and Military Appreciation Week Events

All are invited to celebrate Veteran and Military Appreciation week.

 

 

4/15    MONDAY:             Idaho Field of Heroes   

10 am Monday—11 pm Friday     |     Upper Quad

The "Idaho Field of Heroes" honors Idahoans that have lost their lives in service to our country in military conflicts since September 11, 2001. Markers near the ISU Administration Building identify the individuals, their Idaho home, and the location in which they gave their lives.

4/16    TUESDAY:              Veteran and Military Services Awareness Day   

11:30 am—1 pm     |     Quad Amphitheater

ISU Veteran Student Services Center, ISU ROTC Bengal Battalion, and military support organizations from Southeast Idaho come together to honor veteran and military-connected students at ISU. There will be a variety of resources, Free Lunch, and more!

4/17    WEDNESDAY:        Military Student Day  

11:00 am—1 pm     |     Cadet Field

With the landing of a Blackhawk Helicopter at Cadet Field, the University will honor our students and friends currently serving or preparing to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. The day will feature military vehicle displays by the Idaho National Guard, activities by the ISU Army ROTC Bengal Detachment, free tacos, and fun! Please bring a non-perishable food item to donate to “Fill Our Rucks” for Benny’s Pantry.

4/18    THURSDAY:           PTSD/TBI & Suicide Awareness Day with Puppy Kissing Booth  

11:30 am—1:30 pm     |     Upper Quad

Learn about how people and animals can support those in our community struggling with Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and Suicide.  Come play with puppies & other PTSD companion animals visiting from Snake River Doodles (birth home of ISU’s veteran facility dog, Hero), and Pocatello Animal Services.

4/19    FRIDAY:                Kappa Sigma Ride for the Troops  

5 pm Friday—8 pm Friday     |     Quad

A fun event with food and live music to kick-off the 24-hour bike ride by the Brothers of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. The ride will raise funds for the Fisher House, a facility which supports veterans and their families who need extended service at VA hospitals.

4/26    Following FRIDAY: Southeast Idaho Military Ball 

6:30 pm—11 pm     |     ISU  Ballroom

A community Military Ball, co-hosted with the ISU Army ROTC, for all who support the Armed Forces, whether active duty, veteran, or civilian. Funds raised support Veteran programs at ISU. Tickets are $30. The evening includes dinner, guest speaker, ceremonies honoring the United States Armed Forces, dancing, and a formal photograph (digital). Formal Attire. Ages 18 and over.
