Idaho State University’s March CPI of the Month is Bibek Paudel
March 13, 2019
POCATELLO – Idaho State University’s March Career Path Intern of the Month is Bibek Paudel, a senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Paudel is currently a Career Path Intern at the Idaho Transportation Department’s Pocatello office. Paudel has surveyed in the field using GPS and has assisted in ultra-precise leveling to federal standards along the interstate and other highways.
Paudel has also learned a complex CADD software called “Micro Station,” and has become proficient in using it. His CADD work produces official legal drawings that are being recorded in numerous county courthouses in Idaho. His name is on those records as the draftsperson and will be forever preserved.
“Usually engineering majors do not get much experience in the surveying side of things,” Paudel said. “I wanted to get more experience in the field to better understand the tools required for GIS projects.”
During the past several months, Paudel has become a welcome team member at the Idaho Transportation Department.
“Bibek has been an invaluable assistant to our office,” said Ryen Johnson, district location land surveyor. “His attention to detail is outstanding. He learns quickly and autonomously thinks problems through with care.”
Originally from Gaindakot, Nawalparasi, Nepal, Paudel hopes to stay in the United States to pursue a master’s degree in civil engineering. In his spare time, Paudel enjoys playing ping pong and racquetball and watching soccer and movies.
