Idaho State-Civic Symphony to perform with internationally acclaimed duo Acoustic Eidolon March 15

POCATELLO – On March 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Idaho State University Stephens Performing Arts Center Jensen Grand Concert Hall the Idaho State-Civic Symphony (ISCS) will continue its celebration of Idaho by performing with the internationally–acclaimed duo, Acoustic Eidolon. 

With their unique blend of Celtic, Flamenco and Americana music, played on instruments carved from the same tree, this masterful duo – Joe Scott and Hannah Alkire ­– will draw you in with music “like you’ve never heard before."

The symphony will also perform Felix Mendelssohn’s "Scottish Symphony," which was inspired by traditional music from the Scottish highlands, and is the perfect complement to an evening of acoustic charm. Members of the community also have two opportunities to help raise funds for the Idaho State-Civic Symphony Music Scholarship Fund.

Until March 15, tickets can be purchased for the fifth Annual ISCS Fundraising Raffle. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $1 each in advance by calling the symphony office at 208-234-1587 or through an ISCS Board Member, or at the concert on March 15  beginning at 5:30 p.m. Ticket holders can select a basket or special limited ticket item of their choice by writing their name, phone number, and the basket or item number on the tickets. The tickets will be entered into a drawing to take place at intermission at the concert on March 15. Raffle participants do not need to be present to win. The ISCS is also holding its first-ever Painted Violin Traveling Silent Auction.

In November 2018, the ISCS launched the Painted Violin Project, requesting applications from local artists who were up for the challenge of transforming unplayable violins into works of art. Out of dozens of applicants, 15 designs were chosen and turned into one-of-a-kind pieces. These violins will be auctioned off, with all proceeds benefiting the Idaho State-Civic Symphony Music Scholarship Fund.

There are two remaining opportunities to see these violins in-person, and to bid in the traveling silent auction, on March 1 at the Pocatello First Friday Art Walk at Station Square in Old Town Pocatello or at the Pops Concert with Acoustic Eidolon on March 15. The winning bids will be announced at the concert on March 15. Bidders do not need to be present at the concert.
