Volunteers Needed for the 2019 Haunted Science Lab

September 25, 2019

POCATELLO – Volunteers are needed for the eighth annual Haunted Science Laboratory that is hosted in late October by the Idaho State University Department of Physics and the Kiwanis Club with support from the community.

The Haunted Science Laboratory is open to field trips from local schools, free of charge. Volunteers from ISU, the Kiwanis Club, and the Pocatello community have provided educational, engaging and spooky science fun with interactive science exhibits and activities.

Setup and preparations for the exhibits will occur Sept. 29 through Oct. 20. Field trips will be Oct. 21 through Oct. 25 and the exhibits will be open to the public for a fee on Saturday, Oct. 26.  Proceeds from the public event will go to Kiwanis-supported charities for children.

The Haunted Laboratory will include a Van deGraaf generator, lasers moving to music, and lots of cool illusions. Several exhibits use the same principles of those of Disneyland's Haunted Mansion, except that here they are explained.

The Haunted Science Lab will be in the old Pocatello Street Operations Building at 1080 South First Ave. in Pocatello.

To volunteer or for more information, contact Steve Shropshire, 208-282-2212 (shrostev@isu.edu).
