School of Performing Arts to present 2019-2020 Portneuf Chamber Concert Series

November 19, 2019

POCATELLO – On Dec. 13 and April 3 at 7:30 p.m., the Idaho State University School of Performing Arts will present the 2019-2020 Portneuf Chamber Concert Series.

The concerts will be held at the Historic Firehouse in Old Town Pocatello, 210 N. Arthur Ave. All proceeds from this series will support and strengthen the ISU string area through scholarships, visits from guest artists and ISU recruitment trips.

Performances in the series will feature members of the Idaho State Civic Symphony, along with ISU students and faculty to bring a night of music to the Pocatello area.

The Dec.13 concert will include various string chamber works, including the beloved “Cello Quintet in C Major, op. 163, D. 956,” by Franz Schubert. The April performance will celebrate the 250th anniversary year of Ludwig van Beethoven’s birth with his “Septet in Eb Major, op. 20.”

The Historic Firehouse in Old Town was renovated by Stan Gates and repurposed as a gathering place for local residents. Gates and ISU Assistant Professor of Music and Artistic Director Hyeri Choi encourage Pocatello citizens to come “explore the building’s preserved history and renewed artistry.”

All are invited to attend. Admission is by donation only.  Proceeds will support and strengthen the ISU string area through scholarships, visits from guest artists, and ISU recruitment trips.
