Dance professor elected president of Idaho Dance Education Organization
November 7, 2019
Kathy Diehl, assistant professor of dance, was elected president of the Idaho Dance Education Organization (IDEO) in October. As a state affiliate of the National Dance Education Organization, IDEO is dedicated to the art form of dance as an essential component of life-long learning.
“It is an honor to join the board in this position," Diehl said. "I am looking forward to contributing to an organization that is committed to dance advocacy and building awareness for the art form of dance in Idaho.”
Kathy was also invited to University of Nebraska in October for a guest artist residency. During the 5 day residency, she was thrilled to share her work with an amazing Department of Theatre, Dance, and Music. She taught a variety of classes and set a new work on 8 students entitled "Snowbird," which will premiere in their January concert.
On Nov. 13, Kathy will perform alongside guitarist J. Curtis Thompson for the annual fundraiser "Symphony Pairings." Sommelier Finn Nelson will provide the flavor, pairing perfect wines while guests enjoy the passion, beauty and rhythms of South America, Cuba, Central America and the Caribbean. It will be a fabulous evening benefitting the Idaho State Civic Symphony Scholarship Fund.
Please join the ISU Dance program for a Dance Sampler event on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. in Red Hill dance studios. This event showcases the work of the students and faculty throughout the semester and also offers a preview of the upcoming concert next semester. On Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, ISU Dance presents "Configurations," a concert featuring diverse dance works of faculty and guest artists.
