POCATELLO – Kathy Mattea will bring her performance of “The Acoustic Living Room Songs and Stories” to the Idaho State University Stephens Performing Art Center on March 17 at 7:30 p.m.

This performance in the Jensen Grand Concert Hall is part of the ISU “A Season of Note.”

As a performer Mattea has already earned her Grammy, CMA and ACA Awards because of her mainstream country music and songs.

This performance was created as an experiment to try a range of new songs and styles with a fresh approach to singing. The Acoustic Living Room Tour also features Bill Cooley, her long-time guitarist and musical collaborator.

Mattea’s songs “Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses,” “Where You’ve Been,” “455 Rocket” and many more have allowed her to earn a place in the West Virginia Hall of Fame.

For this performance, listeners will see a simple, relaxed presentation that spotlights both Cooley’s acoustic guitar and Mattea’s expressive vocal style.

Mattea is also a guest lecturer at universities around the United States. She speaks about the relevance music plays in political, environmental and social issues.

“What we do is see the ways that history produces music, how music is the outcome of political, cultural and social changes at various points in the past,” Mattea said.
