POCATELLO – Idaho State University is pleased to host the Bengal Invitational basketball tournament on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 in the Holt Arena.

The Bengal Invitational is a premier high school basketball invitational sponsored by Idaho Central Credit Union. The event provides high school students the opportunity to play at an NCAA Division I collegiate venue, sports fans to see some of the state’s top varsity and junior varsity 5A and 4A basketball teams from Boise, Shelley, Idaho Falls and Pocatello, and for the players and other students to participate in tours of ISU and see the benefits of a college experience at Idaho State University.

Seven outstanding Idaho schools will compete in the invitational, including Pocatello, Highland, Century, Shelley, Bonneville, Boise and Borah high schools. Boys varsity and junior varsity teams will play both days, and cheer and dance teams from those schools will perform at half times.

Games begin at 10 a.m., each day and will occur every two hours. Fans who enjoy a state tournament-type atmosphere will love the opportunity of watching games representing both western and eastern Idaho throughout the day, including the young junior varsity players who will be the stars in upcoming seasons. ISU’s outstanding concession selection will be open so plan on spending all day at Holt, including a large selection of food items.

Games scheduled are:

  • Friday, Nov. 30 – 10 a.m., Century junior varsity vs. Bonneville junior varsity; noon, Pocatello junior varsity vs. Shelley junior varsity; 2 p.m., Highland junior varsity vs. Boise junior varsity; 4 p.m., Century varsity vs. Bonneville varsity; 6 p.m., Highland varsity vs. Boise varsity; and 8 p.m., Pocatello varsity vs. Shelly varsity.
