Women’s March on Pocatello set Jan. 21

January 18, 2017

POCATELLO – The Women’s March on Pocatello will begin at 10 a.m. Jan. 21 in Caldwell Park.

The event, according to its sponsors, has been organized as “a peaceful, nonpartisan march to affirm the shared support for women’s rights, human rights—the belief that women’s rights are human rights—and equality for all.”

The American Association of University Women’s Pocatello Branch, in conjunction with multiple nonprofit organizations and ISU groups, invites participants to gather at the corner of Center Street and Eighth Avenue in Pocatello, hear briefly from two speakers, and then march on the sidewalks to Idaho State University, ending with an organization fair in the Pond Student Union.

From Caldwell Park, participants will march down Center Street, turn left on Fifth Avenue and march down it to the ISU Pond Student Union.

Participating nonprofit organizations and ISU groups will have information tables set up in the Wood River and Little Wood Rooms, where marchers can learn about and volunteer to become part of their important work, while warming up with complimentary coffee and hot chocolate.

Organizers strongly recommend carpooling and parking in the general parking lot next to the Pond Student Union and then walking or carpooling from there to Caldwell Park, where parking is limited. The restroom at the park is not in service in the winter.
