July 24, 2017
POCATELLO – The Idaho State University TRiO, Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math and Science programs will celebrate their students’ successes at a banquet from 6 to 8 p.m. July 26 in the Pond Student Union Ballroom.
The keynote speaker will be Pocatello Mayor Blad and he will talk about the importance of higher education. Students who participated in summer programs will be recognized for their academic accomplishments and there will be a raffle to raise money for the Upward Bound scholars.
The theme for this year’s banquet is “Everything Gold” with a mix of “Red Carpet.”
TRIO UB/UBMS is a federally funded program administered by ISU that has two sections, the academic year and summer. Throughout the academic year students are able to receive tutoring and are advised throughout the week by TRIO mentors.
During the summer program, high school students stay on ISU campus for six weeks while they attend classes and participate in a variety of activities. These are the students whose accomplishments will be celebrated at the banquet.
