POCATELLO – Idaho State University’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering will host three different camps as part of the 2016 Summer Transportation Institute Program.

The camps are for middle school participants who will have completed seventh through eighth grade. There is one two-week session of robotics and engineering from June 13 – 24 on the campus of ISU and two one-week robotics sessions June 20 – 24 and June 27 – July 1 in Blackfoot. The camp is from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, Monday – Friday. The robotics portion of the camp is being hosted by Haywire Robotics.

The purpose of the Summer Transportation Institute Program is to create awareness and stimulate interest in middle school participants to take full advantage of the opportunities that exist in the transportation industry.

The camp is free and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration and is open to participants attending public and private schools across the state. Lunch will be provided.

The program will introduce participants to science and engineering, robotics and potential careers in transportation. Students will participate in academic enhancement activities and hands-on projects.
