Grammy nominated Sheela Bringi to collaborate with Idaho State University’s Chamber Jazz Ensemble March 30
March 18, 2016
POCATELLO – Idaho State University’s Chamber Jazz Ensemble will collaborate with Grammy-nominated artist Sheela Bringi on March 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Goranson Hall in the Fine Arts Building.
Bringi will perform her critically acclaimed hybrid of traditional India music mixed with American jazz and soul music. Her unique musical vision was created along with the up-and-coming musician Clinton Patterson, whose Alabama upbringing instilled in him a strong sense of southern blues, gospel and jazz.
The evening of music will consist of two sets. In the first half, Bringi and her band will join the Chamber Jazz Ensemble to perform a few of her original pieces that jazz studies Director Jonathan Armstrong arranged for the concert. The jazz ensemble will also be joined by members of ISU's music faculty. For the second half, Bringi and her ensemble will perform a full set of music themselves.
The concert is free, and donations will be accepted. Everyone is welcome to attend.
