I Love ISU Scholarship Campaign Raises $230,748
September 16, 2016
The 2016 annual I Love ISU campaign concluded Thursday, Sept. 15, raising $230,748.02 in pledges for scholarships for Idaho students.
This year’s total exceeded the goal of $225,000 set for the campaign.
“I am overwhelmed by the generosity of this community and thrilled to thank the over 1,100 donors, the 200 volunteers and this community for stepping up to fund scholarships so that Idaho students can go to ISU at a more affordable cost, said Mary Vagner, retired Pocatello School District Superintendent and chair of the campaign.
The I Love ISU campaign has been conducted in Pocatello for 34 consecutive years. This annual campaign is the most recognizable fundraising effort at Idaho State University. Volunteers dedicate their time to contacting local business owners, alumni and ISU employees requesting their support for scholarships. Calling teams consist of community members and ISU faculty and staff. The campaign included Pocatello, Chubbuck, American Falls, Blackfoot, Idaho Falls and Meridian, along with surrounding communities.
Last year, more than 800 donors raised $212,000 in scholarships that went to 278 students, all Idaho residents.
Vagner and co-chairs Steven Muse, Idaho Power, Southeast Regional customer relations manager, and John Azzola, Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce, director of marketing and communications led the campaign this year. More than 200 volunteers gathered pledges through weeks of peer-to-peer contacts and other activities.
The announcement was made at the I Love ISU Campaign Celebration and Pocatello/Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours held Thursday evening at the Portneuf Wellness Center.
