Accounting Professor Ken Merkley from Cornell University to give talk at ISU College of Business

August 30, 2016

POCATELLO – Ken Merkley, an assistant professor of accounting at Cornell University in New York, will give a talk on his research and other topics at the Idaho State University College of Business at noon Sept. 16 in the Business Administration Building Room 403.

Merkley will address ISU accounting faculty and undergraduate and graduate students. Anyone interested is welcome to attend and lunch will be provided by the College of Business Professional Development Program.

“Dr. Merkley is one of the best financial accounting researchers in the world,” said Daniel Ames, ISU accounting chair. “He will be able to talk about doctoral programs in accounting, the future of the accounting profession, what research has taught us about capital markets, and professional opportunities in the Northeast – especially in the financial sector and more topics.”

According to Ames, Merkley’s visit will be a great chance for graduate and undergraduate students interested in any financial careers to learn about opportunities in the field and network with a professional from a renowned school on the east coast.

As a professor and researcher at Cornell, Merkley focuses on information’s role in capital markets, mostly pertaining to communication within corporate financial decisions and how these disclosures effect capital market participants including investors and financial statement analysis.
