12th annual Day of Percussion set Jan. 31 at Idaho State University

The 12th annual Idaho State University Day of Percussion will be held on Jan. 31 in Goranson Hall in the ISU Fine Arts Building. The event’s activities include concerts, artist clinics and master classes.
Artists Bill Bachman and Anders Astrand will perform at the event. Bachman studied percussion and performance at the University of North Texas and Berklee College of Music. He has toured for 12 years with the Drum and Bugle Corps and presented nearly 200 drum clinics and festival performances.
Astrand is a mallet specialist and regularly performs and gives clinic in the U.S., Latin America, Australia and Europe. He has composed music for different multimedia performances including dance, video, ice instruments and fire sculptures.
There will also be performances from Century, Highland, Pocatello, Bonneville, Hillcrest and Shelly High Schools.
Sponsors for the event include Yamaha and Dynasty instruments, Vic Firth and Innovative Percussion, Evans and Remo drumheads, Zildjian Cymbals, Row-loff Publications and ISU.
The event is free and open to the public.
