El Korah Shriners and Idaho State University-Meridian to host free screening clinic for children with orthopedic conditions, burns and spinal cord injuries

El Korah Shriners and Idaho State University-Meridian will host a free screening clinic for children with orthopedic conditions, burns and spinal cord injuries on Saturday, Oct. 3, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Idaho State University-Meridian Health Science Center, 1311 E. Central Drive.

The Center is located on the north side of I-84 between Locust Grove and Meridian roads.

Volunteer physicians will screen children and teens under age 18 for a variety of conditions, including orthopedic and spinal cord injuries, burns, and cleft lip and palate. The physicians will be assisted by ISU faculty and student clinicians representing programs in physician assistant studies, physical therapy, audiology, nursing, speech-language, pharmacy and counseling.

The screening’s purpose is to evaluate children for possible treatment at a Shriners Hospital for Children in the northwest. Reimbursement for patient and guardian travel to a Shriners hospital is available based on family need, according to the El Korah Shriners.

This is the fifth year ISU-Meridian and the Shriners have partnered to present the screening clinic.
